The following venues are likely to offer special shows and productions for children at Christmas and in the holiday periods.

Reel Cinema, Derrys Cross, Plymouth.  Tel:  (01752) 663300 (Enquiries), (01752) 255655 (Advance Booking Line).

Barbican Theatre: Castle Street, Barbican, Plymouth PL1 2NJ.  Tel:  (01752) 267131  Visit the website at www.barbicantheatre.co.uk

Globe Theatre, Stonehouse, Plymouth.  The Globe Theatre is set in the Royal Marine Barracks at Stonehouse.  It is a beautiful Victorian theatre that is lovingly maintained and has that old theatre feel.  As it is within the barracks you must obtain a ticket by booking prior to arrival, although tickets may be available at the gate.  To get to the theatre head for the main Royal Marine Barracks in Durnford Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth.  Go past the main gate onto the mini roundabout and turn left into Admiralty Street.  This follows the wall of the barracks.  At the give way road markings turn sharp left.  This is the side entrance to the barracks.  Stop and show the guards the tickets.  Parking is available behind the theatre.

Plymouth Athenaeum Theatre: Derrys Cross, Plymouth.  Tel:  (01752) 266104.  Visit the website at http://www.plymouthathenaeum.co.uk/

Plymouth Pavilions: Millbay Road, Plymouth.  Tel:  0845  146 1460.  Membership of Pavilions PALs allows priority booking for most shows, information on activities sent out regularly, discounts on sporting activities.    Tel. (01752) 222200 for an application form.    Check out the Website at www.plymouthpavilions.com where some shows can be booked online.

Theatre Royal and Drum Theatre: Royal Parade, Plymouth PL1 2TR.  Tel:  (01752) 267222 (Box office)  Membership of the Mailing Club or TRAC allows priority booking for most shows, information on productions sent out regularly.  Visit the website for further information and online booking at www.theatreroyal.com

The Vue Cinema:  Barbican Leisure Park, Barbican Approach, Coxside, Plymouth.  Tel: 08702 406020  (24 hour Bookings and Information Line). Has installed audio description technology systems and subtitles to help people with hearing and sight disabilities enjoy films.

VENUES OUTSIDE PLYMOUTH

Carnglaze CavernsNear Liskeard  Tel: (01579) 320251  A former slate mine, with three huge caverns.  One of these (the Rum Store) is used as a concert venue.  Visit the website at www.carnglaze.com

Dartington Arts:  Dartington Hall Estate, near Totnes Tel: (01803) 864047. They are very proud of their arts provision for children, which includes regular music and theatre performances, as well as commercial and independent children's films.   Visit the website at www.dartingtonarts.org.uk

Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre:  Sterts, Upton Cross, Liskeard, Cornwall.   Tel:  (01579) 362962.
