Under five year olds are admitted free at all Plymouth city pools.  Children under eight years of age must be accompanied by an adult.   Check opening times and admission prices with individual pools. 
Central Park:  Outland Road, Milehouse, Plymouth, PL2 3DG. Tel: 0870 300 0010.  Main pool, large teaching pool and diving pool with 1m and 3m spring boards and 5m and 7.5m firm boards.  Parent and toddler swimming sessions; swimming lessons from 3 years; children's fun sessions; aqua-natal class; aqua-fit.  Professional diving school with lessons for all ages.   Visit the website at www.plymouth.gov.uk
Plymouth Pavilions:  Millbay Road, Plymouth.  Tel: 0845 146 1460.  Fun pool with flumes, wave machine, children's paddling area,  waterfalls, Jacuzzi, children's pools and a wrecked galleon.  Parent and toddler sessions; swimming lessons.  Family-friendly changing facilities.  Check out the Website at  www.plymouthpavilions.com
Plympton Pool:  Harewood Park, Plympton, Plymouth, PL7 3AS.   Tel: 0870 300 0020.  Main and learner pools.  Swimming lessons; mother and baby sessions; aqua-natal classes for mums-to-be with qualified midwives; aqua-fit; life-saving courses (including rookie course for juniors); ladies and children's octopush on Saturdays.  Vending machine refreshments.  Closed for refurbishment from 11 December 2006 to 22 January 2007.  Visit the website at www.plymouth.gov.uk

Tinside Lido, Plymouth Hoe, PL1 2PA  Tel: 0870 300 0042.  The Lido opened for the 2007 season on 26th May until 9th September. Follow the link above for further information.  A season ticket can be purchased for those who want to swim throughout the summer. Plymouth City Council are offering discounted entry fees to all Plymouth residents with a Plymcard

Tinside Lido

Mount Wise Swimming Pool, James Street, Devonport, Plymouth, PL1 4HG.  Tel:  0870 300 0042.   Entry is FREE.  Lockers - £1 refundable.  Pool opens in the summer.                                                

There is also a small tidal pool at Devil's Point, at the end of Durnford Street, Stonehouse.

Swimming and Diving Clubs

Devonport Royal Swimming Association and Humane Society:   Barry Wilkins Tel: (01752) 209127.  Swimming teaching from age 4 years.  Social swimming, competitions, life-saving, water polo.  Meet at Central Park
'PADI Discover SCUBA' offers 10 year olds and up the thrill of diving, directly supervised by a PADI professional.  Potential divers master basic SCUBA skills and could then decide to take the next step, the 'PADI Open Water Diver' course.  Training courses are arranged to suit the needs of each individual or group.  The course is offered by 'In Deep' Diver Training at the Mount Batten Centre.  Tel:  In Deep on (01752) 405400 or 07976264253.
Plymouth Diving:  Tel:  (01752) 607206.  Highboard diving for recreation and competition, for swimmers of all ages from 5 years.  The Learn to Dive Scheme offers anyone who is interested, the opportunity to learn to dive in a safe and fun environment.  The diving programme in Plymouth is one of the leading programmes in the UK and trains children from complete beginners to international standard competitors.  The Club currently has 5 divers competing for Great Britain (March 2004). 
Plymouth Leander Swimming Association:  Alison Johns Tel: (01752) 516312.  Swimming teaching from age 7 years.  Competition swimming.  Two coaches with the British swimming coaching team.  Meet at Plymouth College swimming pool.
Plymouth Pisces Swimming ClubMrs Mary Cole  Tel: (01752) 558168   Open to people of all ages with disabilities and their families.   Meet weekly at Central Park pool for leisure swimming/swimming lessons.  Also enter inter-club galas.  Welcome swimming or non-swimming volunteers to assist.
