Traveline is a public transport information website to enable journey planning by bus, coach and/or train.

First Great Western produce a leaflet entitled "Transport Links - A Guide to transport links in South Devon and Cornwall" giving details of linked rail and bus services throughout the area, available at Plymouth Railway Station.

AIR TRAVEL

Air Southwest operate flights from Plymouth Airport at Roborough  (in the north of the city) and Newquay Airport in Cornwall to London Gatwick, Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Bristol, Glasgow, Newcastle, Jersey, Dublin, Cork and Chambery.

Refreshments are available at the airport until the last flight leaves.  There are no separate facilities for nursing mothers;  a changing mat is provided in the ladies' toilet. 

BOAT

There is a cross-Channel car ferry service from Plymouth to Roscoff in Brittany and Santander in Spain operated by Brittany Ferries.  

The Cremyll Pedestrian Ferry operates from Admiral's Hard (off Durnford Street, Stonehouse) to Mount Edgcumbe Park.   A ferry timetable may be purchased at the Cremyll Tollgate. 

The Mount Batten Ferry (water taxis) operates daily between the Barbican and Mount Batten. 

Plymouth Boat Cruises operate boat trips from Plymouth Barbican, also linking with the Tamar Valley Line trains. 

Tamar Passenger Ferry travels between Calstock, Bere Alston and Cotehele Quay during the summer, depending on the tides. 

The Torpoint Ferry is a regular and frequent car and pedestrian ferry service operating between Torpoint and Devonport.

Plymouth Citybus:  Milehouse, Plymouth.   Tel:  (01752) 222221  Citybus run an extensive network of wheelchair and buggy accessible SuperRider buses on main routes.  Information on these and all timetables is available from the Travel Shop (Exeter Street).  Lost Property can be collected 0800 to 1700 Monday to Friday from Milehouse Office.  Visit the website at www.plymouthcitybus.co.uk

Park and Ride:  There are three park and ride sites in Plymouth; one located at Coypool and accessed off Marsh Mills roundabout, where there are 420 spaces, one at Milehouse, adjacent to Home Park, Plymouth Argyle's football stadium and a new (2006) one at Roborough (opposite the George Hotel).  The Roborough facility has cycle sheds and showers, as well as baby change facilities.  There are 700 spaces at Milehouse, but this is not available when Argyle play at home (see What's On). 

TRAIN

The Plus Bus website, www.plusbus.org.uk explains all about The Plus Bus scheme which entitles ticket holders to unlimited travel on a network of buses within a specified area around Plymouth.

When purchasing a train ticket it is possible to purchase a single or return bus ticket at a reduced price to enable you to complete your journey within the city.  For further information on this scheme contact either Plymouth Citybus, First Western National or Traveline.

First Great Western offer their Family Carriage (Coach E) on most off-peak services during school  holidays and Saturdays and Sundays.  They give free activity packs for children at the buffet.   There are babychange facilities and seats with storage space for buggies. Children under five travel free. 

Wessex Trains operate a network of services throughout the westcountry, including main line and branch line services. 

Dartmoor Sunday Rover: Tamar Valley Sunday Services link, year round, to a network of bus routes that cross Dartmoor. In the summer the network is extended and includes the Okehampton-Exeter Dartmoor Railway. Enjoy unlimited travel on this network of Sunday services with a Sunday Rover Ticket.  Pick up the Sunday Rover leaflet at local manned stations or Tourist information Centres.   The Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership produce a series of leaflets including Line Guides and Timetables giving information on branch lines throughout Devon & Cornwall; for further information visit www.carfreedaysout.com.

Log on to www.carsharedevon.com to match people wanting lifts with those travelling in the same direction.

CYCLING

There are cycle paths at various points through the city and recreational cycle ways (eg in the Plym Valley).   Leaflets detailing these routes can be obtained from the Plymouth Tourist Information Centres.
